Welcome to Scouts, BSA Troop 626!

Ma Ka Ja Wan Scout Reservation 2022

Troop 626 is one of the Chicago Area's largest and most active Scout Troops with over thirty Scouts.  We have a linked Boy's and Girl's Troop, both Troops share the 626 number. Both Troops meet on Monday nights, having separate meetings.  Both Troops will have several "linked" outings and campouts throughout the year.  We are a chartered organization of Queen of All Saints Basilica.

We are a troop run by scouts for scouts. Our troop operates using the traditional 'patrol method'. Scouts are one of the few organizations for youth where the adults are not 'in charge'. The scouts manage most aspects of our troop operations under the guidance of our adult leaders.

Troop 626 is a year-round program for youth 11-17 years old that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help you become the best version of yourself.  If you are new to the Scouting program, our Troop has the resources to get the most out of your scouting experience.  We can set you on the trail to develop a one of a kind skill set, from thriving outdoors to better understanding what you mean to your community - this is the place.

If you are already familiar with the program or just looking to up the ante on your scouting experience, we have you covered.  We are super active and looking for scouts with the same passion that we have.  We have quarterly Courts of Honor, an active advancement program, great support from Youth leaders as well as adult volunteers and plenty of opportunity for positions of responsibility that smaller troops cannot always provide.  Stop by and check out the Troop.

Our Troops camps on a Monthly basis. Both troops will go camping separately, but there will be several camp outs together. We spend one week over the summer at Camp Ma Ka Ja Wan in Pearson, Wisconsin.  We also have an extensive High Adventure program for older scouts, which have led us to some very amazing sites in over 20 States.  We go places that test your limits, push boundaries, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that can’t be found anywhere else. Some of our past trips included canoe & hiking treks in the Apostle Islands (2011), Blue Ridge Mountains Scout Reservation (2012 & 2017),  Atchafalaya Basin (2013 & 2019), the Black Hills in South Dakota (2014), Boundary Waters Canoe Base (2015 & 2021), Davis Mountains in West Texas (2016), the Rocky Mountains in Colorado (2018) and South Dakota Adventure (2020).

If Eagle Scout is your goal, we have the resources to help get you there.  Troop 626 has had over 40 Eagle Scouts since it's inception in 2010.

We represent Scouts from the communities of Sauganash, Edgebrook, Wildwood, Forest Glen, North Park, Albany Park, Jefferson Park, Irving Park, Avondale, Portage Park, Rogers Park/West Ridge, Edison Park and Fox River Grove. All youth between 11 and 17 years of age are welcome to join our troop.

Our troop meets most Monday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM from September until June in the Queen of All Saints School cafeteria, located at 6230 N. Lemont Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60646.

New Registration is $25 and prorated at $6 per month for the remainder of the first year (until the end of December), with re-registration Dues (January - December)  currently set at $100.00 per year.
